We all also already know that recycling is good. The fact that you’re on this site in the first place pretty much guarantees it. But did you know that rechargeable batteries, car tires, motor oil, and guns can all be recycled as well? These are items that, at first, do not appear to be exactly a thing to have reused again.
Batteries
These tend to contain toxic chemicals in them. When put into landfills, they may leak out chemicals that will seep into the ground. It is thus very important to always try being able to recycle them. Many popular electronic stores are willing to take the batteries off your hands and put their power to use.
Tires
This probably is not near as important, especially if you’re around a teenage age, but it is always best to recycle these. When simply dumped into landfills or nearby roads, they not only release toxic chemicals but also provide an active breeding ground for mosquitoes and rodents that spread diseases. And you hate them right? If not for the Earth, at least help get rid of some nuisances.
Motor Oil
The effects of dumping motor oil are pretty obvious. It is sticky, and contaminates water and ground. What more is there to be said? Many corporations are willing to take in your used motor oil for themselves. A great way for big drivers to help out a bit.
Guns
Yes, guns can be recycled. They are made of steel, and so can be reused just as easily as copper or iron. Old ammunition can even be pretty useful if put into the right hands.
For most of these, you can find a good recycling location near you through the extremely awesomely site http://earth911.com/.
