Reducing waste is good for water!

The other day in science club we had a guest speaker.  It turned out to be our district's head of waste management.  He wanted us to help out with understanding recycling and to reuse instead of just throwing stuff away.

If you think about it you can relate it to water, because most of the world’s fresh water is in glaciers, lakes, streams etc... But I bet you knew there’s a lot of water under the Earth’s surface.  That means if you use land fills that bury stuff, what they collect might end up in underground water ways.  If we don't throw away things that can be recycled then there will be less trash in land fills and the water under the surface might not get very polluted due to less stuff stuck in the land fill.  But reusing is still better than recycling.
