How to Execute Your Debate and Service Project Requirement

Please execute your debate as you would normally, using our Toolkit to help you develop your arguments.

However, considering the new requirement is that you must complete a Service Project, think about framing your debate so that it is about action-oriented responses to climate change and makes connections to your debate arguments. We know that everyone normally completes a Service Project to earn Points however this time around, we really want you to focus on the action being essential to your debate process.  To really make a positive difference in the climate crisis, we must turn our words into action.

How can you increase the scope and impact of your past Service Projects?  Do you want to partner with a local NGO to do advocacy work?  Do you want to move your service project outside of school and into the larger community?  Do you want to raise a specific amount of money to donate to a local or national environment group?  To help you, use the Service Project template as your preparation and planning guide.  Here, you can clearly define your goals and lay-out how you can meet them.

When you have completed your Service Project, we ask that you submit to us a simple E-Portfolio that will show us what you did.  This can be a PowerPoint presentation, a photo-graphic brochure, a Photo journal, etc.  Make sure it is a document that can easily teach and show others why your service project was so valuable.
