Responsible Endowments Campaign
After learning about socially responsible investing through a conference at UCLA, Victor Weisberg got involved in creating a campaign to better his universities practices. Working with UCLA's Undergraduate Student Body President, he mobilized students to effectively target key UCLA stakeholders – from influential student groups, alumni, tenured faculty, to administrative bodies. The initiative, coined the Responsible Endowment Campaign, seeks to foster the universities values to the businesses, communities, and industries where they invest.

So the REC campaign was able to present to the 35 body UCLA Foundation Board of Directors March 31st Meeting (for only 5 minutes) but it was more then enough time to establish a relationship and get them interested in understanding the concept of investor responsibility. Right now we are in the progress of setting up a meeting with the Executive Committee of the BOD to create a working group to look more into the issue -- this would include some members of the BOD, faculty, undergraduate and graduate. So it potentially great progress. I'm planning on using some of the mini-grant money to print some professional material and possibly later inviting a representative from the Responsible Endowment Coalition's national organization to help facilitate the creation of an Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility.
